We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Triage Nurse

Location: Borno

Main Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Medical Supervisor, Health Programme Coordinator and Medical T.A, the Triage Nurse will be responsible for the following main activities to ensure the quality of care of patients:

Patient management:

  • He/She will be responsible for conducting brief clinical assessments that determine the clinical urgency of the clients’ presenting health concerns and culminate with the allocation of a care category, which determines the time and sequence in which they receive services.
  • The Triage Nurse will also be responsible for managing client records; ensuring accurate data entry, filing/archiving and retrievals.
  • S/He will provide comprehensive triage (in-clinic and/or mobile) and clinical assessment service to clients resulting in safe and appropriate clinical decisions that reflect their healthcare needs.
  • Identification and isolation of suspected cases in the advent of an outbreak/epidemic (COVID-19, Measles e.t.c)
  • S/He will initiate appropriate nursing interventions (e.g. first aid and emergency interventions) to improve client outcomes and secure the safety of clients and clinic staff, facilitate the triage process using clinical knowledge and appropriate interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Provide education to patients and families when necessary
  • Sort patients into priority groups according to guidelines
  • Transport patients to appropriate treatment areas
  • Communicate status of patients to doctors and nurses
  • Initiate emergency treatment if necessary
  • Manage and communicate with patients in waiting room
  • Reporting and attendance to relevant meetings.

Communication:

  • Produce daily and weekly report for the medical supervisor
  • Create and maintain good working relationships with referral facility staff.
  • Liaise with patient families or designated guardians as appropriate.
  • Uphold the principle of confidentiality and actively promote the right of the patient to choose their care.
  • Obtain consent from the patient verbal and written where necessary.
  • Provide feedback to the medical supervisors or team leader of the field team(s) regarding the cases triaged/screened
  • Communicate all patient management with Medical Supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Report any safety and security concerns to focal person as soon as possible.

Collection, computerization and analysis of weekly referral data:

  • Submit report to the Medical Supervisor on a daily basis
  • Submit end of week report to the Medical Supervisor on a weekly basis
  • Liaise with Monitoring and Evaluation Department regarding triage data collection when required.

Attendance to relevant meetings:

  • Actively participate in MdM internal meetings
  • Participate to all the trainings organized by MDM
  • Participate in all relevant external trainings identified.

Others:

  • Give suggestions to improve the functioning of MDM clinics and the referral pathway
  • Be flexible in performing his/her duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services
  • Perform other additional duties on request of the line manager
  • Inform immediately the security focal point in case of any security problem
  • Because of the emergency relief nature of MDM’s work, working hours may be irregular and employees are expected to be flexible in their approach to working hours under emergency conditions.
  • He/she works under the supervision of the Medical Supervisor.
  • The employee shall respect Médecins du Monde – France’s schedule and Terms and Conditions of Engagement for National Staff and is expected to be available anytime in order to answer to an emergency situation and be flexible and available beyond normal working hours if requested.
  • This job description can be modified according to changes in MDM activities or in the context. It can be amended at any time after mutual consultation, in order to fit the requirements of the programs.

Specifications

  • Trained Nurse with at least 2 years’ experience post qualification.
  • Fluent in Hausa, Kanuri and English
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Good patient resuscitation skills
  • Previous working experience as a triage nurse is an asset
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Strong commitment to humanitarian work

Salary Range
N300,000 – N400,000 / Month

2.) Pharmacy Assistant

Location: Borno

Main Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the pharmacy assistant will be responsible for the following main activities in order to ensure the quality of care in the mobile clinics:

  • Stock management in link with mobile clinics
  • Distribution of drugs to the patients and counseling
  • Reporting and attendance to different meetings
  • Collection and analysis of weekly drugs consumption.

Tasks Description
Stock management in link with mobile clinics:

  • Prepare all the necessary drugs, material and equipment for mobile clinics and ensure that everything is ready before to leave MdM office
  • Store drugs according to instructions and standards.
  • Realize the pharmacy stock management (in/out) at the mobile clinic
  • Calculate daily consumption for each item in order to anticipate any shortage
  • Do a weekly physical inventory of mobile clinic pharmacy
  • Prepare weekly drugs orders to MdM central pharmacy with the assistance of the medical doctors and paramedics staff
  • Monitor the supply quantity, expiration dates and quality of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Ensure pharmacy recommendations are applied.

Distribution of drugs during the mobile clinics:

  • Give the drugs according to the medical prescription.
  • Ask the medical doctor or the midwife to complete their prescription in case of incomplete information (dosage, duration…)
  • Indicate the name, presentation and dosage of the drugs on the dispensing bag.
  • Explain to the patient how to take the treatment and make sure that the explanations have been understood
  • Explain the potential side effects of a drug to the patient
  • Fill in the daily consumption form for each item
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is respected and treat all the patients with respect and dignity.

Collection and analysis of weekly drugs consumption:

  • Collect the daily mobile clinic consumption
  • Participate to collect the weekly consumption and analysis of the medical stock needs.

Reporting and attendance to different meetings:

  • Prepare request for the clinic and validate with Medical supervisor.
  • Liase/inform clinician, doctors and midwife about drug availability.
  • Participate in a pro-active way to MdM internal meetings (medical, security…)
  • Participate to all the  trainings organized by MDM.

Others:

  • Give suggestions to improve the functioning of MDM mobile clinics
  • Participate to the loading and unloading of the vehicles and to  the setting up of the mobile clinics
  • Be flexible in performing his/her duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services
  • Is responsible for the proper use and maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Perform other additional duties on request of the team leader
  • Inform immediately the security focal point in case of any security problem in the field.

Profile

  • Pharmacist Preferred or other related fields
  • Experience in a similar position for at least 5 years (Essential)
  • Good knowledge in dispensing and medical stock management
  • Capacities in team management
  • Strong sense of responsibility and organization skills
  • Strong work ethic and rigor
  • Languages (spoken and written): English, Kanuri and Hausa
  • Excel and word

3.) Clinician

Location: Borno

Task Description

  • Provision of free of charge curative health consultations
  • Prepare all the necessary drugs, material and equipment for mobile clinics and ensure that everything is ready before to leave MdM office
  • Follow the basic medical rules of hygiene when performing curative health consultations
  • Participate actively in triage activities before to start curative health consultations
  • Perform curative consultations

Take a proper medical history including:

  • Reason for consultation
  • Duration of the illness or complaints
  • Main symptoms
  • Past medical history and treatment.
  • Perform a correct physical examination:
  • Inspection, auscultation, percussion, palpation
  • Systematic checking of signs of severity
  • Diagnose and treat the diseases according to protocols in use (i.e. clinical guidelines)
  • Write the most important complaints, signs, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment on the patient’s registration form.
  • Explain the treatment to the patient
  • Give individual health education related to the patient’s disease
  • Manage emergency cases according to MdM protocols and regulation
  • Fill in the registration form for each patient, according to the diagnosis of the morbidity surveillance form
  • Check the immunization status for all EPI targeted children and referred the unvaccinated children to the vaccinator
  • Investigate any information regarding unusual health events or diseases outbreak, provided through any source
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is respected and treat all the patients with respect and dignity
  • Admission, weekly medical follow-up and discharge of the malnourished children in OTP program
  • Ensure that all the 6-59 months children have been screened (MUAC, H/W and edema)
  • Admit new cases in OTP program according to the criteria of national nutrition protocol and give systematic treatment for SAM cases Ensure weekly follow up of SAM cases and adapt RUTF doses
  • Discharge cases according to the criteria’s of national nutrition protocol
  • Refer complicated SAM cases to identified Stabilization Center
  • Fill in the specific OTP form
  • Collection, computerization and analysis of weekly epidemiological data
  • Perform the daily data collection regarding curative consultations
  • Participate to the weekly computerization and analysis of the medical data
  • Reporting and attendance to different meetings
  • Prepare a weekly activities report to submit to team leader
  • Participate in a pro-active way to MdM internal meetings (medical, security…)
  • Participate in all the trainings organized by MDM

Requirements

  • Any medical certification. Eg. Nursing, Community Health, etc.
  • Experience in a similar position for at least 5 years. (Essential)
  • Ability to diagnose and treat common illnesses.
  • Good knowledge of nutrition
  • Capacities management medical emergencies
  • Strong sense of responsibility and organization skills
  • Strong work ethic and rigor

4.) Finance Officer

Location: Borno

Essential Duties
Accounting:

  • Assist Oversee Nigeria Coordination accounting and finance functions
  • Ensure that Nigeria Coordination Administrative, Accountancy and cash flow procedures, tools and software are used in the missions
  • Ensure that expenses are justified according to MdM France and donor’s procedures
  • Assist to ensure that all administrative documents are properly filed and archived
  • Assist Supervise the accountancy closure, and ensure deadline are respected
  • integrate the new donor contracts into the financial management of the mission’s projects.

Budget:

  • Assist manage the Budget Follow-up (BFU) and provide financial information and analysis to the Finance Coordinators within the mission budget cycle
  • Take part in the development of the reference budget together with the Finance Coordinator and in the construction of the annual budgetary frame.
  • Take part in donor’s visit with the Finance Coordinator and to present the updated budget and analysis.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports to donors
  • Ensure that expenditures for budgets, grants and contracts are monitored and the reports are prepared to maintain balance account
  • Train the mission’s senior staff in how to use the Budget Follow up.

Treasury:

  • Daily management of the safe, and of needed transfers with cash box or change operations
  • Supervise of safe movements in SAGA and update of compliant supporting documents
  • Elaborate monthly cash requests with the team for the program and support services; and communicate to the Finance coordinator
  • Ensure cash security rules for the mission are implemented and that MdM-France procedures and tools are being used for cash flow management (bank account, safe, cash box, advances);
  • Ensure the transfer of funding for the Nigeria Mission
  • Develop cash flow projections for funded and support activities
  • Follow up and ensure advances are closed at end of each month.

Compliance:

  • Participate internal/external audits and reviews as required to ensure compliance with MdM France procedures and donor’s requirements
  • Effectively stay abreast of donor policies, procedures, rules and regulations including match/co-financing rules; compile and update applicable local policies; and train program and partner staff in these policies
  • Assist develop and maintain local office policies and procedures and provide training for all issues related to local financial matters.

Relation with partners:

  • Effectively stay abreast of the MoUs between MdM France and partners for the finance chapters
  • Review and monitor partners financial reporting and compliance. Provide additional assistance with the Finance team to partners when required
  • Train, support and build administrations capacities of implementing partner staff in compliance with MdM France Procedures, in close coordination with the Deputy Finance Coordinator
  • Ensure that monthly financial reports from partners are respecting MdM France procedures.

Team Management:

  • Create a sustainable work environment of mutual respect that attracts motivated, skilled and effective team members and enables them individually and collectively to strive to achieve excellence.
  • Train the Finance officer and Admin assistants based  in Maiduguri and log admin based in Damboa
  • Contribute to country team-building efforts; build constructive internal relationships; help team members identify problem solving options and ensure integration of all team members into relevant decision-making processes.
  • Liaise and work in close coordination with Finance Coordinator, when required.

Coordination:

  • S/he ensures an efficient circulation of information to field and capital teams.
  • S/he drafts or participates in the drafting of internal activity reports for everything dealing with financial, budgetary, issues for the mission.
  • S/he ensures proper finance coordination at mission level by regular visits to the bases, controls, monitoring, training, etc
  • Ensure proper archiving of financial contracts and correspondence with donors
  • Support Deputy Finance Coordinator in relationships with the administrative authorities at the national level.

Skills

  • B.Sc Degrees in Accounting or any relevant courses
  • Experience of 4 – 5 years minimum in a similar position
  • Experience in negotiations and relations with partners in a moving and difficult legal, administrative and political context
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience in multi-donors’ budgets and multi-countries grants
  • Training and capacity-building experience
  • Knowledge of Saga is an asset.
