We are recruiting to fill the following positions below: -APPLICATIONS CLOSED
1.) Child Protection Officer (Marte)
Location: Borno
Experience and Skills
- University Degree in Social Sciences or relevant experience in Social Work, Community Development and working with children in Child Protection programme.
- 3 years sectoral experience
- Good English oral and written communication skills.
- Fluent in a local language and or Kanuri is a key requirement.
- Experience in community facilitation and mobilisation
- Good understanding of community politics and traditional networks in program location.
- Excellent technical understanding of child protection and community-based approaches.
- Good computer knowledge and skills.
- Be able to prioritise tasks
- Flexibility and ability to work independently and in a team
- Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
- Able to operate in extremely harsh living and working environment
- Gender awareness and sensitivity
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Safeguarding Children Initiative. In particular, a good understanding of the SCII mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
Desirable:
- Work experience with children and families, especially knowledge of child rights and participation
- Excellent computer knowledge
- Experience in capacity building
- Previous NGO experience, including an understanding of neutrality as an international NGO.
- Background knowledge in child/ youth protection, education, child rights and emergencies.

- The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

2.) PSS Facilitator
Location: Borno
Job Requirements and Competency
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyse and solve problems.
- Ability to manage conflict and resolve complaints.
- Proficiency in using Micro-soft office package.
- Knowledge of sexual and gender-based violence/domestic violence and sexual assault/abuse issues and solutions.
- Understanding of challenges facing Internally Displaced Persons in the location
- Experience working with young people, preferably most vulnerable (experience working with Internally Displaced children will be a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of theories of human behaviour and ability to apply in assessment and planning.
- Knowledge of risk assessments; counselling skills, child abuse standards, child welfare legislation and regulations.
- Ability to work as an integral member of a team and work with little or no supervision as may be required.
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively under pressure.
- Good planning, organisation, problem-solving, decision-making and liaison skills.
- Ability to collaborate with other resource persons and facility.
- Ability to withstand stressful situations that may arise as a result of challenging work environment.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum of a Diploma in a Social Development related field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Specialized Education).
- 0 to 1 year experience working with children and preferably high-risk children and/or refugee/ vulnerable population
- Knowledge in Child Protection.
- Strong facilitation and organizational skills;
- Motivated-and ability to work in a team.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English, Hausa and Kanuri is required.
