Working in economically deprived places and vulnerable communities torn apart by instability across Nigeria and providing solutions that support inefficient markets and communities is implementing an agricultural mechanization service intervention aimed at enhancing access of smallholder farmers to affordable and sustainable mechanization services in Nigeria.
The project aims to create work opportunities for mechanization service providers, tractor operators, and others in the mechanization value chain. The project’s primary target is young men and women in peri-urban and rural communities, providing bundled mechanization services. Ultimately, the project focuses on capacity-building, affordable last-mile services, financial inclusion, technology integration, and policy enhancement.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:
1.) Lead Researcher (Kenya)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead in gathering all current situation reports on disease awareness, and supply chain analysis, including distributor mapping and current market share in the resident country.
- Provide a summary of the desk research to the lead consultant
- Mapping out relevant stakeholders and their roles in the regulation and delivery of vaccines, such as Veterinary Services, industry players, regional bodies (e.g., ECOWAS, AU, WOAH, FAO), donors, NGOs, and multilateral organizations.
- Engagement and facilitation of meetings with relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying existing business models and gaps in awareness and vaccine coverage, as well as existing PPP models implemented for animal disease awareness, weaknesses, and opportunities
- Support the development of evaluation protocol and lead the pretesting of the protocol in selected communities/districts.
- Will be responsible for identifying and supervising their field staff.
- Monitor field activity and report to the Project Manager.
Requirements
- A minimum of First Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health, or any related Degree in Agriculture. A 2nd degree will be an added advantage.
- Must have a good knowledge of the livestock sector within the country with special emphasis on vaccine coverage, vaccine supply chain, and community-based animal healthcare.
- Demonstrable experience working in a research environment, including social research, mixed-methods research, and supporting large-scale multi-stakeholder projects.
- Strong communication skills, especially the ability to listen, understand requirements, and translate them into a research framework.
- Knowledge and experience of key research methodologies, and when they should be used.
- Strong questionnaire design skills, to design high-quality questionnaires and advise others on best practices.
- Experience working with external research consultancies.
- The ability to deliver research that is unbiased, well-structured, and answers a specific need.
- Knowledge of commonly used research programs – including data analysis packages, such as SPSS.
- Quantitative data analysis skills, including multivariate analysis.
- Ability to understand and interrogate existing research data.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with academic and non-academic audiences.
- A resident and National of Kenya.
- Have a good understanding of the geographical coverage of the country.
- Knowledge and experience in research studies, and stakeholder engagement.

3.) Lead Consultant
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Key Responsibilities
- Writing desk research, aggregating documents, and preparing summary reports from the lead researchers. This involves consolidating the research findings into a comprehensive document for further analysis and presentation.
- Collaborating with the Project Manager to develop an evaluation protocol and ensuring that all materials are pretested for effectiveness and accuracy in data collection.
- Working closely with the analyst to aggregate field reports, synthesizing findings, and integrating them into the broader research framework for comprehensive analysis and reporting.
- Partnering with the Project Manager and the Market Development Expert to develop a robust business model based on research findings and market insights. This includes identifying opportunities, assessing risks, and formulating strategic recommendations to drive business growth and sustainability within the livestock vaccine value chain.
- Providing support in data management, including data entry, cleaning, and validation, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of research data.
- Contributing to the preparation of reports, as needed, to disseminate research findings and insights to relevant stakeholders and audiences.
- Actively participating in team meetings, workshops, and other project-related activities to contribute expertise and insights toward achieving project objectives.
Requirements
- A minimum of a post-graduate Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
- A veterinarian with good knowledge of the livestock sector within the country with special emphasis on vaccine coverage, vaccine supply chain, and community-based animal healthcare.
- Have a good understanding of the geographical coverage of the countries involved.
- Proficient in various research methodologies, selecting the most suitable for business requirements.
- Familiarity with leading research software and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
