Global Initiative for Health and Right is a Non governmental Ogarnisation, which emerged out of the direct need to comprehensively and sustainably address the rising prevalence rate of new HIV infection amongst youths within the Niger Delta and other parts of Nigeria. 1.) Associate Program Manager
Location: Rivers
Our Ideal Candidate
- A Degree in related field.
- Experience in health care programs or program support function.
- Experience in HIV/AIDS program implementation.
- Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills including the ability to foresee problems and initiate appropriate action.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and make reasoned judgments in a timely fashion.
- Experience in dealing with difficult and sensitive situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
- Willingness to travel within Rivers State.
- Time Management – Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and complete projects in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision.
- Quality Management – Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

2.) Laboratory Scientist
Location: Rivers
Our Ideal Candidate
- First Degree in Laboratory Science
- Experience with handling fully or semi-automated machines is a must.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a similar position.
- Must poses a valid license to practice as a medical laboratory scientist.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to travel within the State.
- Sensitive to ethics and confidentiality of HIV/AIDS client issues.
- Possess current knowledge of best practices in HIV/AIDS laboratory management,
- Ability to prepare reports.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer operations.

3.) Accountant
Location: Rivers

- A Degree in related field.
- Accounting Experience – Must have relevant experience in the nonprofit sector with experience as well in either healthcare or insurance.(This is an added advantage)

- Experience as a Program Manager working with PWIDs in an HIV prevention and care program will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated skills in training and capacity building through technical assistance and mentoring.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender responsive programming.
- Willingness to travel within Rivers State.
- Ability to work effectively with government and civil society partners and communities as well as transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through workshops, training and meetings using participatory methods and adult learning principles.

6.) Clinician
Location: Rivers
Role Description
- Provide and deliver quality health care as a competent and skilled Medical Practitioner.
- Provide medical services to PWIDs as part of GIHR Community Health Services
- Where practicable, be involved in PWID health issues at a community level and be an active representative and advocate for GIHR services.
- Hotspots visit services where necessary
- Provide specialized skills where agreed to as part of the role.
- Develop care plans, conduct health assessment
- Assist with the integration of health promotion and the social model of health into the Community Medical Practice.
- Participation in relevant organizational meetings and planning forums as requested.
Our Ideal Candidate
- A Bachelor of Medicine credentialed to practice as a qualified Medical Practitioner/General Practitioner.
- Demonstrated experience as a General Practitioner working in a Community Health setting.
- A sound knowledge of general practice and community medicine.
- Experience working with PWIDs in the same capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

- At least 3 years M&E experience working on M & E systems for HIV prevention and care programs will be an advantage.

Requirements

- Member of a drug-using community
- Comfortable approaching and initiating conversation with others
- Basic literacy
- Speaks the language of the PWID community
- Cultural competency with the PWID community
- Willingness to learn: prevention messages, laws regarding NSEP and possession, etc.
- Eager to educate self and peers
- Trustworthy
- Does not have any open warrants (that could endanger the operations of both the peer and program)
- Desire to serve his or her community
- Knows the “lay of the land”
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation and the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
