What Is Recruitment?
Recruitment can be seen as the process of selecting, identifying, attracting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding workers. In layman’s terms, it involves everything from identifying a staffing need to filling it.
It all depends on the size of a firm, larger firms may have entire teams of recruiters, while others have only a single recruiter. In a small company, the hiring manager may be in charge of recruiting. Additionally, so many organizations outsource recruiting to outside organizations. Some companies always recruit applicants for new positions through advertisements, newspapers, social media platforms, etc. and some employ recruiting software to more effectively and efficiently source top applicants. Despite everything, recruitment generally works in conjunction with, or as a part of Human Resources (HR).
Types of recruiting
We have several types of recruiting:
Internal Recruiting: This process involves filling vacancies with existing workers from within an organization.
Retained Recruiting: This is when an organization hire a recruiting firm, there are many ways to do so; retained recruiting is very simple. At a point where an organization retains a recruiting firm to fill a vacancy, they will be responsible to pay an upfront fee to fill the position. It is the job of the organization to find applicants until the available position is filled and also the organization will agrees to work exclusively with the firm.
Contingency Recruiting: This is refers to n organization hires a recruiting agency recruiter to find candidates for an available position. The recruitment agency receives payment only when the clients they represent are hired by an organization.
Staffing Recruiting: Staffing Recruiters match qualified applicants with the right position that aligns with their qualification. Staffing Recruiters work across multiple verticals and are great problem solvers and are able to assess a situation and make a decisive decision.
Outplacement Recruiting: This process involves employers helping their former employees to find new positions or careers and transition smoothly back into the workforce.
Reverse Recruiting: This refers to the process whereby the worker is encouraged to search for employment with a different firm that offers a better fit for their skill set.
